IBASSO DC06 PRO

High analytical and very clean sounding

Context: I bought this DAC to use my mobile as the audio source in my S-Cross.

Phone -> iBasso DC06pro ->DSP -> three amps powering the DLS reference speakers and a DLS reference Subwoofer. Front staging. Apple Music HiRes

I added this DAC to see if it improves the output ( it was great earlier too) After tuning for a few hours (RTA, EQ, TA by tape), the sound took shape close to what I had imagined.

Punchy and tight bass, complimenting the other frequencies brilliantly. No frequencies overpowering the others.

The whole setup sounded a lot more analytical than earlier and at extreme high volume the sound was clean.

Instrument separation was extremely good. I could identify all instruments, and pleasant to hear. Highs did not make our ears feel fatigued at all.

I'd have liked more height, width, and depth in the imaging instead of what I heard. That probably is a limitation of this DAC ( I tested the Cayin RU7 and the imaging was way better than this one). Maybe I was expecting too much.

I did try with a couple of IEM's and Headphones I could get my hands on. It does justice and the imaging is much better for the IEM or Headphone than the setup I use it for though.

If you'd like to get a clean source in a car try your phone, apple music, and a good DAC like the iBasso DC06pro. Trust me it does make a whole lot of perceptible difference. There may not be any head unit comparable to the sound quality of what this offers. I've had the pleasure of having an 80PRS and a 99RS in my cars and I'll confidently say that this setup sounds as.good or better.

5 Star for sound quality, 4 star for build quality

I am using it with Orivetti OD200 on S24 Ultra. Sound quality is great. Portability is also decent, it can fit in pocket of track pant along with mobile, not sure of jeans though.
Only negative point is, C to C connector is of poor build quality. Place where we attach it to mobile is getting loose and I think it will break in few months. But that's just the connector cord which can be replaced.

Worst overall quality

It is extremely poor when it comes to features... The app has almost no useful features... The sound is clean and detailed... It's not harsh... It's just clean sounding... So it's a very good thing... The build quality is extremely poor... It's been 3-4 months and I have almost never plugged out the wire from the dac... And the type c port in the dac has become loose and is not working... After spending ₹11,999 it worked for 3-4 months... And this is a problem that will happen in almost every unit because it is built like that...

It doesn't connect to any one of my device I tried all settings apps in android, iphone, windows pc .
