However, if you receive an incorrect / damaged / different product or one with missing accessories, please raise a return request within 24 hours of delivery. In case you receive a product with a missing, incorrect, or faulty accessory, you will be given a replacement accessory instead of the entire product.

Please make sure that the product is in the original packaging with all the accessories it came with. We'll also need an unboxing video and images of the parcel to investigate about the discrepancy. You may be asked to share images of the product and the packaging received for us to determine the damage or defect prior to approving the return request. Designed to decode up to 384kHz PCM audio, the RU6 features a meticulously crafted array of 96 resistors (48 per channel) for precise and life-like audio reproduction. With its dual DA modes - Oversampling and Non-oversampling - listeners can choose between high-resolution, detail-rich playback or a more natural, organic sound. This, combined with its fully analog resistor array volume control, two-board circuit design, and low power consumption, makes the RU6 a standout in portable DAC/Amps. Compact, intuitive, and high-performing, the RU6 promises uncompromising sound quality wherever you go.

Innovative 24bit Discreet R-2R Resistor Ladder DAC Circuit

The Cayin RU6 features a self-developed 24bit discrete R-2R resistor ladder circuit that can decode up to 384kHz PCM audio. The basic idea of the R-2R ladder is a matched pair of resistors, the first is “R” and the other is “2R'' which has twice the value of R. To achieve 24-bit decoding, RU6 equips 48 units of resistors (23 x R and 25 x 2R), and that’s for one channel. So for a stereo 24 Bit R-2R decoder, RU6 features 96 units of resistors for life-like audio reproduction. With the advent of the R-2R circuit, Cayin RU6 establishes itself as the master of the fully-discrete resistor DAC topology in portable audio.

Offering Oversampling & Non-Oversampling DA Modes

Cayin offers both Oversampling and Non-oversampling DA modes in RU6. For Oversampling mode, the Digital Audio Bridge will upsample the digital audio data to 384kHz through digital filters. This will enhance the resolution, reduce noise and improve the anti-aliasing of the digital signal. The Oversampling DA mode will offer a noticeable improvement in details and frequency extension. The playback is clean and sharp with a darker background. On the other hand, NOS DA mode maintains the sampling rate of the original bit-stream and playback will become very musical with a natural and organic presentation.

Equipped With Fully Analogue Resistor Array Volume Control

The majority of USB DAC/Amps rely on your phone's volume control to regulate the headphone output volume. Technically this was not a viable solution to Cayin RU6. Cayin created a fully analogue resistor array volume control circuit in response to this problem, offering 99 steps of volume adjustment via nine segments of resistors and switching relays. Resistor Array volume control features a very high-quality volume control design, extremely transparent when implemented correctly. This design is incorporated in a lot of high-end preamps and integrated amplifiers.

Features Dual Circuit Board Layout For DSD & PCM Playback

To minimise audio signal interference, Cayin has split the RU6's circuit into two 6-layers PCB, with digital and analogue circuits installed on separate boards. This safeguards the audio signal integrity and ensures the noise from the reference clock and DSP does not bleed into the amplification circuit. This architecture in turn delivers artefact-free audio every single time. This circuit design combined with the R-2R architecture enables the RU6 to support hi-resolution PCM and DSD audio formats with support for 384kHZ PCM and DSD256 natively.

Discrete R-2R circuitry is a low-power DAC circuit when compared to other highly integrated DAC chipsets. Because of this architecture, you can listen to music without worrying about your phone's battery draining out. The hardware is intuitively designed and offers two gain settings to enhance performance with various IEMs and headphones.

Excellent product, I can even go as far as saying exceptional, but unfortunately didn't meet my personal needs. Don't let that deter you because it could be good for you.

This is my third portable DAC. Others two being Sound blaster play 4 and Shanling UA1 plus. I like the sound of both but this Cayin RU6 belongs to a totally different class. I am currently using it with Logitech UE900 ear phones which I bought ten years ago. I can hear all the micro details in the music and movies which I never heard before. It has a super clear sound. I am happy with the purchase.

Underwhelming if not fed from a proper source. Mindblowing otherwise.

Terrific dongle, but needs proper power from the source. Mobiles might not be the best sources. Apple users should 1) turn on high res in audio settings, and preferably use 24bit/192 khz lossless 2) disable dolby atmos 3) disable Sound Check (very important, else switching gain modes do not work and there seems to be some issue with the dynamic range) 4) Preferably turn off EQ.

Good portable DAC amp for the price

Musical portable DAC amp. Fussy about interconnects. Choose the ones approved my Cayin. Along with the ones included in the box (USB C - USB C), I have used "Cayin - RU6 Lightning To USB-C Cable CS-L2C" (USB C - lightning) and they work fine. I have used it with Meze Neo 99 and Sennheiser HD 650. It is able to drive both of them. For HD 650, i need to keep the volume levels in 70s. If you are tighter on budget opt for RU6, if not you will find the Chord Mojo2 far DAC amp.

New to this audiophile world.. Donno exact wordings… of the all this is BEST, undoubtedly.. received properly from headphone zone..
once I started listening.. felt like .. enough, no need to search further.. so much clean sound ..velvety ..everything in place.. don’t buy too many DACs or DAPs .. buy this alone ,, adequate enough

Firstly thank you so much HEADPHONEZONE..i received CAYIN RU6 portable DAC just in two days..My first impression is compact size with plug & play. sounding is natural, wider sound stage, clear, deep bass and nice vocal control. I tried all type of songs just amazing.I was searching perfect music device like this since ten years, finally I got it.guys don’t think too much if you want to best of best music experience in budget this is one. Once again thank you HPZ. I am big big fan of HPZ….🙏🙏

Big thank you to Headphone Zone staff for a perfect packaging and very fast delivery!! It was delivered soon er then I expected.

RU6 didn't disappointed. Although it did sounded thin and congested in the beginning but after around 5070 hours of breaking in it started to open up. I always wanted to try R2R DAC and this one is really affordable to experience true analog like sound. It's silky smooth but at the same time both high and low frequencies are well defined and articulate. It's a keeper.

RU6 You Beauty.

Having owned an EarStudio, Qudelix 5k, Eagle, Hip Dac 2, I was pretty reluctant to get another DAC as a daily driver. Having seen various rave reviews and the beauty of the R-2R capabilities in such a small form factory I had to get it.

First impressions were really good, esp the fact that I don’t have to EQ this DAC at all. It just somehow produces a sound that you don’t want to alter anymore. It can just drive anything. Tried it on my Blon B3, Aria, KZ10 and Sundara. It plays to the strength of all. Loved it on balanced out in my Aria esp.

That’s it. Just get it 😅👆🏻
