I need to be in love" by carpenters had very good sounding instruments , vocals, air, and stage. it feels like a concert. PR1 shoud be the most practical buy if you want to experience how planars sound.
The KZ PR1 turned out to be an excellent first attempt by the ChiFi giant. It has great build quality and is both attractive and comfortable. It has a powerful yet speedy bass, fantastic instrument separation and a clean extended treble.
The PR1 is quite impressive for what it is, especially with its special driver principle. Its planar driver brings a lot of coloration to the sound, featuring an enticing bass response and and extended treble that I found extremely pleasing to my ears.
I may not be the biggest fan of the somewhat generic “U” shaped balance, but the KZ-PR1 does it without overly thinning vocals and delivers on its highs with a genuine planar character.

These are my first planer iems and I was already very impressed with their sound quality. Although I don't have a good dac but still they sound soo good without them. I have read about them, people talk that these iems require a decent amount of power to run them at their full potential so iam planning to buy a dac for these. Overall these are a good option if you are planning to buy planer iems and one more thing their response to eq is very good I can hear the difference evry time I change a single frequency on eq. So if u know how to eq or u want to learn it then these could be a great start for you.

First time when i got them, i was kinda disappointed with the low volume and lack of that "Planar" quality. I got stressed that i spent so much for this type of quality. I put a return request. But then i researched and saw that planar magnetic drivers are power hungry. So definitely i thought there might be an issue with power. So i cancelled my return and bought a dac "audiocular d10" it costs for around 700-800. After using the dac with pr1. The quality enhanced amazingly, it improved like 3x times. These planar magnetic iems are actually the best in terms of detail and clarity and overall sound quality. You can literally hear each and every detail of the music. Even the bass was kinda 'mid' before dac. But after connecting it with dac it's real potential unlocked. And that was purely the best thing i experienced in a while. Bass got tight and felt like a party in the head. Mids and highs got clearer 3x times. It was like it jumped from 30% to 100% potential. So yeah these beasts are power hungry and needs external dac/amp to play to it's full potential. These iems are NOT plug and play. Even without dac they sound way better than most of the iems but there's a significant difference after it's powered up. And to achieve the nirvana you can tweak it up with some EQ settings. I'm gonna be honest I wasn't aware of their power and quality but when i knew and resolved it's power issue, everything worked like a charm and fell in right place. The mic leaked when connected without dac but got way better with dac. So, THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS YOU'RE SEEING, I'M PRETTY SURE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THESE!! THAT IS WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO USE IT FIRST IF YOU WANT TO MAXIMISE IT'S POTENTIAL IF YOU WANNA EXPERIENCE REAL PLANAR CLARITY AND SOUND QUALITY!!

I got a type C cable as I play through my smartphone
Very punchy bass
Not very dramatic
Can hear absurd amounts of details
Requires external AMP as playing through smartphone requires turning the volume full to enjoy the full ability of the IEM
The build quality is very nice full metal casing

Switching from electrostatic to planar magnetic IEMs brings a noticeable change in sound characteristics and overall experience. Here's an improved version of your review:
I recently transitioned from the KZ ZEX (electrostatic driver) to a planar magnetic IEM, specifically the KZ PR1, and the difference is striking. The ZEX was notably loud, sometimes to the point of distortion, even when paired with a balanced 4mm 8-core cable. In contrast, the planar magnetic PR1 offers a more controlled and refined listening experience.
-Volume and Sound Performance
Without a DAC, the PR1's sound feels quieter at lower volume levels—at 30% relative volume, it barely triggers sound output. However, when paired with my own custom DAC featuring a resistive ladder implementation and analog filters, the performance improves significantly. Despite this, I find myself needing to push the volume above 90% for satisfying output levels. The planar magnetic driver delivers a balanced sound profile with an elevated yet controlled response curve, avoiding overshooting frequencies.
-Comparison with Electrostatic Drivers
Electrostatic drivers like those in the ZEX have their merits. They can produce clear and detailed audio with good dynamics. However, I noticed that the PR1's impedance stability is superior to that of dynamic drivers, which contributes to its consistent performance across different setups. While both driver types offer clarity, the planar magnetic IEMs provide slightly more precise detail retrieval and better linearity in sound reproduction.
- Overall Impressions
If you already own electrostatic IEMs that work well for you, there's no pressing need to switch. However, for those who prefer a more linear sound signature and stable impedance characteristics, planar magnetic drivers like those in the KZ PR1 are worth considering. While the differences in sound quality between electrostatic and planar magnetic drivers are subtle, they are enough to be appreciated by discerning listeners.
This version maintains all your key points while improving clarity and flow for better communication.
