Sony - NW-ZX707

I expected better performance from Sony after all the hype in the media about this walkman. Sounds good but there are many features which are not as good as it could have been for this price range. Wifi connectivity really sucks....considering this is a streaming device, this should have been its strong point .. turns out that this is its weakest point...have to literally coax the device to connect....with this much effort I could have connected more easily with my adversary neighbour. Bluetooth... hmmm less said the better. just six feet.....after which .. knock knock..who's there?? Android version seems ancient...takes eons to start...smartlock for on body and trusted places never works...highgain is not upto the mark.. I dont know if I am going deaf... this one sounds ok above 80%...tried both streaming and onboard music.... Well I dont want to end up crying on the agony aunt.... Thought of skipping this review... just a friendly reminder from Raghav ( my name sake) prodded me to write this... Didnt return it .... not because I didnt want to but felt too self conscious... all the communications from Headphone zone almost are like from well wisher... so friendly, personal and touching.. feel like that pug... so why hurt someone with a return request.... like catholic marriage grin and hear it.... next time I am sure to contact someone at your place for guidance before making such buys...Thanks team HZ ... these things sell because of your unique friendly marketing approach.. Not a flagship but this is definitely an upgrade from zx507 in HARDWARE, SQ AND UI.

Very handy and portable. Recommended for iems only.

Was waiting for this moment since long, i am super happy that HPZ has brought the Sony Walkman NW-ZX707 here. It's a fantastically built device that delivers impressive sound with long battery life. I am using it since like three days now, Tonally it has that sony's in-house smooth touch. Bass is well-defined, midrange feels lively. Treble is a little on the softer side. It sounds extremely clean, no noticeable background noise!! Super happy.

I liked the product. But the sound output, when connected to my denon amplifier, is not what I had expected. I have to set the volume in the sony to maximum and set the sound of the amplifier to 70 atleast. Another thing which I observed is the operation is laggy, which shouldn't heve been the case given the OS is Android 12. There's no word on the software updates, if there will be any. Display should have been 1080p given the screen size of 5 inches and the high price of Rs.70k. Listening to audio over headphone is a treat though.

Sound that is warm, smooth and contains a lot of information・
High-resolution vocals that are easy to hear The design is reminiscent of Sony's flagship model "NW-WM1AM2" and gives a stylish and cool impression. The gold frame of the earphone jack and the "WALKMAN" logo on the back of the black case look great. Personally, I think that a design that satisfies the owner's desire is an important point when choosing a player. When talking about the "NW-ZX707", it is light enough to be carried around. Contrary to this luxurious and solid appearance, it is light and easy to carry. This is a very nice point for those who want to enjoy music at home or on the go, and for those who use it as a daily companion. As for the sound, I was impressed with the clear sound, like a cloudless blue sky. The speed of the sound is clear, the sense of separation is good, and the expression is very polite. I felt that the details of the expression of each note, the volume of the midrange, and the high resolution have increased. As for the low range, the reverberation and reverberation are good, and the sound has high resolution. The sound pressure is not in the strong category, but it is a pleasant sound that you can listen to clearly while feeling the sound that is not too strong. As for the midrange, it features an overwhelming sense of realism and a clear vocal without distortion. I felt the distance between the vocals was quite close. Breathing and lip sounds are also carefully expressed, allowing you to enjoy a realistic sound. Thanks to the high degree of separation, it was easy to hear each word.

I've always loved Sony's sound and tuning and this fails to disappoint as well.
I was and still am very happy with my earlier NW-A46 but wanted streaming capabilities as well.
Really happy overall.
One thing to note is that when you insert an SD card it needs to be formatted on the device and kept as phone storage to enable seamless downloading/storage of tracks from streaming services (especially Spotify). i had to format the SD card to NTFS on the PC before it could be reformatted on the device to be used as phone storage.

I struggled to keep my portable music listening on my phone to reduce the number of devices I have to carry around. But 2 main issues, battery life and storage. I pulled the plug and got a dedicated music player.
I was tempted to get a FiiO but listened to the review by Headphonezone of the Sony and was informed that the software experience is a lot smoother than other DAPs. That's a big must have along with access to all your streaming apps (requires the OEM to have signed Gapps and registered Play Services).
I have had android based DAPs in the past that didn't support the play store and didn't have play services available. installing APKs is not the best user experience and imo, not the safest option. The Sony has made it really easy to get my apps installed and ready to use! Sony's >decade of experience with smartphones and android shows in the final result on this player. Smooth with no hangs or stutters.
The Cassette Player screensaver looks really cool.

Build Quality -- Top Notch Build, Metal and Glass with the matte black finish and the Copper Accents for the headphone ports give the device the luxury feel to match the luxury price.

Battery Life -- Haven't measured this fully but current stats show ~8hrs left with 70% battery charge.

Sound Quality -- Was told that the sound quality is typical Sony (I don't know what that is). Compared to other listening the sound was warmer without the harshness that you usually hear in the Highs.

I paired this DAP with my Sennheiser IE600s to begin with. I started my listening with the Headphonezone Rock Audiophile playlist (This was transferred from Spotify to Tidal using Soundiz) so I was able to get the Hi Res version of this playlist. My first impressions on listening to "Layla" (Eric Clapton, Live, Acoustic) were how pleasant the music sounded, there were no standout frequencies and I welcomed the sound stage with all its symphony. All the details were there. My big test for a new audio setup is the overdone "Hotel California" Live Acoustic version by The Eagles, a track that to me is the standard reference point for audiophile listening for the past 20yrs. Again, I enjoyed the balanced sound stage without the highs or lows shouting out to make their presence felt.

Difficult setting it up and really no difference between the music coming out of this and my phone . This is a scam
