Keeping your entire collection of Hi-Resolution music in one place is the most convenient way of carrying your music library. However, Hi-Resolution files are heavy. Most songs in a FLAC format can be about 100mb per track. So more space is always better.
Most players support both internal storage and expandable storage via an external memory card. Make sure you check both - the internal memory on players, and consider the maximum supported size of the expandable storage. It’s best to keep your library of offline files in expandable storage and use the internal storage for saving files from streaming apps.
At the time of writing this article, MicroSD cards for 256 GB were easily available and affordable for less than Rs. 2000. Higher capacity cards are also available, but that seems to be the sweet spot.

This is a hugh upgrade from sony.
I used the previous SONY NW A106- the battery life is horrible, ui was pretty slow if you use 256 or 512 gb memory card.
This is the best SONY is throwing at us. I hope it should not be the last.
The options available for audio is excellent, various customisations for EQ also great.
The HR is great.
I use this product to avoid phone's distraction and enjoy the pure sound. If you want to enjoy the music try a flat eq headphones and tweak it to your customisation via eq available in the player.
Since it is android usual blotwares are available disable or use the walkman mode.

First things first! Thanks to the Headphonezone team for the quick delivery. It has been quite some time since I've seen a hi-res player from such a big brand cost so little and was very curious to see how the NW-A306 performs. Compared to NW-A55, Sony has definitely improved its algorithms to let the player offer more acoustic subtleties and dynamic range.

A great ergonomic DAP. Love the physical buttons with indents, you can use them without even seeing the screen.
Experience : Simply awesome. You can only use 3.5 mm jack (no other jacks available) . Cassette Overlay looks awesome :) . I have also used it with Apple Music Lossless Streaming, works fine. (UI becomes a lil cluttery)
Sound Quality: It's an LDAC !
You can also use this player as an external DAC. (it's better than Earmen Eagle I own ; its similar, "more of a personal preference"). In the end its a sub premium Sony product.
Cons : Since it's Android 12, it comes with google bloatware. (Can remove it via ADB or just disable the apps)

Its not some of the powerful DAPs available at this price. For example AP80, somewhat more powerful than this at very less price.
35+35mw and with just 3.5mm port maybe not enough to drive even a 32ohm drivers(iem).
But holding this little cutie in hand is a great feeling.
It takes a lots of time to boot or to use the walkman app, but matches great with few of my iem collections, for ex: oh10.
With plain options(no eq, vinyl ) , I like the music, I hear.
If you want to consider AP80 or pro X for other options, if you are not sony fan

I ordered Sony AW-306 from Headphone Zone (after a long wait, as the product was out of stock) and the product was promptly delivered.
Coming to the product, SONY AW-306 is awesome. It is a starting level product for audiophiles and suits by needs perfectly. The sound enhancement features are truely brilliant, but requires a few high quality songs to be downloaded (from internet). I downloaded a few flacc files and sound was a huge improvement over regular listening devices (phone or simple mp3 players). Also requires a good headphone to pair with. I used a SONY XM3 (borrowed from a friend) to test the sound and I was happy. The sound is great too with a SONY MDR-XB55AP series in-ear headphone (somehow sounds better with the DC phase linearizer). Of course a pro-grade audiophile will not be too happy with this item, but for audio-enthusiasts this is a very good item. The android OS is very smooth (obviously not for playing games) and I could seamlessly use Spotify and Prime music with downloads. Battery life is very good compared to the older version. However, I found trouble connecting to WiFi if I am a little far away from the router (my phone shows 3 bars, whereas SONY AW-306 shows zero bar). However, this is not a deal breaker. Only complain is the non-availability of the balanced output. May be a cost issue.
Overall, a very happy user and thanks to headphone zone for prompt delivery and sending a choice of song list.
PS: looks like it is little difficult to get screen protector or cover for this product in India. Any help will be much appreciated.
