Preliminary Report on 7HZ 71
Hi,
Just bought the 7HZ 71 to wet my feet in the area of hifi music.
By no stretch of imagination, although I have dabbled in all things audio for 60 years, can I say that I am any level of audiophile!!
The perfect newbie, actually!!I just listen to music and have come to expect nothing dramatic.
I felt it necessary however to give this report, a few days into using the 7HZ 71 (with a pair of AT M50 Studio headphones), because perhaps the while the majority of us just listen to the best music created, but that's not me...I'm a bit different.
I was most anxious to find out how l'il ole me sounded.
You see, I'm a diehard karaoke vocalist and have been into this around 15 years, making covers of a host of genre....painfully laying down, balancing, eq'ing ete in Audacity.....doing the very best I could.
All for my own pleasure mostly.
All I recorded sounded..well!..soso!!!
I thought to play it through a simple DAC to start with, pretty sure that something that would bring out fine detail would accentuate the errors in pitch, timing, tone of voice, and the music tracks, and the combo would sound horrible!!!
Boy...could I have been more wrong!!!
The first time I connected up, interposing the 7HZ 71 between the mobile and phones, my jaw just dropped open!
Was this really me? I couldn't believe it. Thinking it to be just a fluke, I played song after song....pop, rock, jazz...Sinatra, Presley, the Beatles going well back into the Big Bands, Cole Porter......hey, you name it!!!!
The results were the same! Stunning!!!
The ultimate kudos was when I cajoled the wife into listening to More, Moon River, and New York New York!
Not telling her who the vocalist was!
So, I asked, how did the guy do?
"Much better than you!!"
Trust the wife to deliver the pleasant KO punch!
But I digress.
I then went on to listen to a stack of bands and songs from from the 40's to date, throwing in Broadway for good measure.
But the highlight remained.
I had, as always done my very best to, at least, approach studio recording conditions.
I now realise I had been missing out on so much.
Never one to rest on laurels, I now propose to 'graduate' to IEMs and maybe a slightly upgraded DAC..
For IEMs, I have, after Raghav's exhaustive IEM Shootout.decided on the KZ DQ6, which, courtesy Headphone Zone, I should have in a few days.
I hope there's no way for me to go, but up!!!
Making a start if you, like me, sing a lot, just dive in.
You will probably end up hitting yourself on the head head with a hammer... audiowise!!!

Neutral sound, works well with most IEMs, very well priced, doesn't eat battery much. Good output on laptop & Phone. I have no complaints with the build or aesthetics with this dongle for the price. Sturdy and durable. Happy with my purchase.

As soon as I started to listening from this dac through mobile damn there was a big difference between a normal type c to 3.5mm adaptor and this one, 7hz 71 sound so astonishing with my sound magic e11c earphone even it was sounding so much better than my previous 3.5mm jack mobile, each song i played rock/instrumental/pop/edm/bassy/vocals etc they were outstanding for listening, just go for this Dac amp plus good quality iems like e11c n enjoy your music, u will not be disappointed.
