Confused

I am a user of AKG K52 for more than an year. I don't know why but I had great expectations with the "Monks". First when I put on these It didn't go well, fit was bad, at least for me. It hurt my ear.
Sound wise, I have very mixed feelings, maybe it was because I had been using much superior headphones. But I shared it with some family members, who used cheap earphones, and the response was good ! Although I didn't like it much, I'll be keeping it, see how it performs in future. Or maybe I'll gift someone who's not audiophile.
Verdict : If you're new to audiophile world and tight on budget, maybe give it a try. But I don't think who's been using superior cans will like it as much, considering sound and comfort.

Note: This review is coming from a superior headphone user. Experience might vary for others and this is my personal review.

Comfort : Not Versatile, may or may not suite your ears.
Build : It's cheap, but feels sturdy.
Sound : Soundstage was good for certain frequencies. Bass Is average, Sub-Bass is missing. Feels like Mids, Highs and Lows are bleeding into each other. Can't find Instrument separation too, maybe I can't notice it.

Bang for the buck!

From past 3 years I have been using RHA MA390, Marshall Major II, OP bullet and Blitzwolf headphones. Every headphones has its own characteristics , ie either in the one side of the sound spectrum. But I have never felt that wow factor while using a headphone until I have bought Monk! I would be buying these again, as the sound stage and imaging for this price is phenomenal. A point to be noted that it lacks bass so if we are a bass-head or using a dynamic driver headphones prior to this, then the initial adjustment time will be a bit hard as we would be accustomed listening to a bass boosted version of every song. But once the burn-in period is completed it simply sounded the best with Balance signature. I believe it can be named as the beginners Stairway to High Fidelity experience. Monk+Odyssey HD is highly recommended.

HI Vishnu,
So delighted you are loving your purchase, it truly is phenomenal & thank you for the lovely review. Cheers & keep the music playing!

first of all thank you HZ for d super fast delivery..before purchasing i read many reviews saying the sound is low for this headset as its impedance is more but I didn't feel any problem regarding this as its sensitivity is high.in fact, I cannot raise the volume beyond 50% as its too loud for me :0.it performs gud with my redmi note 10 pro. bass is more than I expected.this s d best headset in this price range if not more.wire quality is not d best but its decent enuf. diz headset s never gonna disappoint u as its super lightweight.this cn even give a tough competition to my apple airpods. Dear HZ plz include more headsets like this (cat ear audio for eg.)as there r many ppl like me who r not fans of in-ear type headsets...grab this and get lost into the world of muziq

HI Arun,

Very annoying vocal

Don't go for the product before analysing the description or review. This is a headphone with unpleasant hammering vocal and Boxy Base that is irritating. Clarity is there but you may not able to enjoy that. It is very difficult to adjust with the sound produced by the headphone. If you love the Sony,Sennheiser, Edifier headphone then VE monk Plus is not for you. The main highlight(exaggerated vocal) of the product may not suitable for you. Overall this is not for soft music lover.

Decent sound and mic

Update after 2 months: I have been using the Monk Plus with Hidizs S9 Pro. Sound quality is good. I do not use bundled earpads. I have a Sennheiser MX170. I think the sound quality is good compared to MX170 except in the bass department. MX170 has better bass than Monk Plus.

I have been using the Monk Plus EQ settings from AutoEQ database (https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq). I am using it with JamesDSP plugin (https://github.com/Audio4Linux/JDSP4Linux) in my Linux system. The EQ helps to smooth out some of the high frequency peaks.

I like the compact mic capsule. The mic is decent. You don't have to bring the mic closer to your mouth when you talk for the other person to hear you.
