Truthear - GATE

I buyed truthear hola, moondrop chu, etc. It has'nt even lasted for a year. Even within the warranty this headphone zone warranty claim department doesn't even treat customer has a customer. They are so rude. For a warranty claim it takes 2-3weeks. Even if they do favour they say this as point and argue with customer. Never listen to customer. I am facing so much issue after warranty if the product is not working they don't even care. We the customer paying hard earn money and it didn't even last after a year and worst support particularly warranty claim department.

In this review i am not gonna get into all the standard format/technical points like bass mid treble soundstage imagin details blah blah. Instead i am just gonna compare this gate with my previous iem - 7hz zero(og).

The gate is featherlight, really you wont even feel its there. very comfortable just like a regular in ear buds. after struggling with the fit on 7hz zero, the gate feels like heaven. Though the build quality looks like it may not last or could get easily damaged, It being weightless makes it worth the sacrifice in build. i mean any iem could get damaged if we are rough. i dont need the iem to look fancy or strong af, i mean if i cant wear it in a comfortable manner then whats the point.

Now lets compare the sound, Take a look at the graph, you can see that they are both very similar. so how the gate differs? lets get into that right away,

The zero is very clean and its treble performance is fine in songs that do not have a lot of instrument or in songs that are not busy. The bass is tight and clean But it doesnt scale well if you go up a few db the bass gets left behind and now it will sound peaky.

The Gate has better bass performance, it is Tight and clean and the kick is now more pronounced and it is satisfactory. The treble is tamed and sounds more pleasant even at high volumes. It scales really well. Now you would think that with these changes there should be some tradeoff right? since bass is turned up and treble is controlled, maybe the bass would be muddy or the details would be missing. But no Gate still retains the detail while simultaneously providing that satisfactory bass. they really nailed the bass dept.

The zero with its slightly boosted highs does better separation in slow tracks or tracks that do not have a lot of stuff goin on at the same time.
The gate with its tamed highs does better in tracks that are congested.

Since the zero doesnt scale well, in duets the female vocals often overshadows the male vocals especially at high volume. there is no such problem in the gate.

A member at ASR forum made an interesting point that truthear gate is essentially moondrop kxxs with cleaner bass tuning.
The gate's standout point would be its scaling and bass, it is clean and satisfactory but not muddy/bloated.
i found the gate's sound stage more wide but it doesnt matter much if separation is not good. so songs in which the mix itself makes these spanning effects more pronounced u will enjoy the wider stage but for passive instrument separation i feel like the zero did a better job.

TL;DR= Zero - in overall is the cleaner sounding iem.
Gate - better bass without sacrifice in detail, very good scaling capablity and comfortable af.

I am satisfied with this product. kudos to truthear. they have found the perfect balance without any tradeoff.

About the design I would just say its a perfect fit. Light weight and optimally designed ear shape let it tightly fit my ears. Best noise cancellation as it fits perfectly. Added to that ample ear tips have been provided along with it for everyone's choice. The most beautiful part is the cable provided along with is. So damn good quality that it puts other same priced iems to shame.
Now the most important part that is the sound quality. I love the balanced output that it provides in the mid range. Slightly more treble centric when I raise the volume, sometimes makes certain tracks treble heavy. But overall sound is balanced. Good for analysing music as I was able to hear every instrument played. Even in some songs I was able to hear certain instruments that Were previously not very clear. Later on will pair it with a good DAC and will provide further information. Right now burning it vigorously. Last but not the least, I would say its a good pair for a new audiophile like me. Go for it!!! Highly recommended. Thanks Headphone zone for bringing it for Indian masses.
