This DAC is simply superb. When I was hearing a Lata Kishor song sa re ga from Abhinetri on audio technica Msr7 ,using samsung s21 fe and u tube premium , I thought song is sounding absolutely brilliant with astounding clarity and melodious. Lata voice is sparkling and music fantastic. Voice sweetness is exact ,like sugar if u add more it will spoil and less is insipid. I think this dac is difficult to beat. Sound is full, smooth yet sparkling and sweet. Buy if you are fan of nice music. Yes, perfect for listening old hindi songs. Remember it is your ear decide what is best irrespective of price or technical.

Given that I've been using an Aiyima DAC-A2 for a year, I immediately noticed the improvement in sound quality. It powered my HD 599SE (50ohms) just as I had expected it to do. Then something happened beyond my expectation. So I have this three disc album, Bubblegum Crisis Vocal Collection. It's an anime OST CD pressed in 1998 and being a veteran of the "Loudness War" it has a compressed dynamic range, but now after listening through this dac, all of a sudden the tracks seem to have an improved sound stage along with stereo separation, something my previous setup couldn't deliver. This DAC is worth every paise.
I'm planning to get a higher impedance headphone, probably HD 600 next year and I don't think I need to upgrade my DAC for the next 5 years.

If you play music from your laptop and need a high quality DAC and preamp for powered desktop monitors or bookshelf speakers, something like this is a MUST. The Zen DAC v2 was the most versatile and high quality option for me.

I used this both with loudspeakers and with headphones. As it has a volume control, I initially connected it directly to my monoblock power amps at home. This allowed me to play all my hi-rez music from my computer and allowed me to retire my CD / SACD / DVD-Audio player and pre-amp. The sound was excellent but not significantly better than the earlier setup. I later took it to my office to play music via headphones while I work. In this setup it sounded significantly better than my earlier setup and I may probably use it permanently in the office setup.
The different colours for different resolutions help confirm that my computer is playing the files in the correct resolution. My music collection consists of FLAC files ripped from my CDs and hi-rez FLAC legally purchased online. I don’t need MQA decoding but the MQA decoder and the colour change is very helpful to confirm that the computer is sending bit perfect data using sample MQA files. I tried the different firmware supplied and I preferred the non-GTO filter firmware. It would be nice if they provide more types of filters and the ability to change them dynamically without having to go through a firmware change.
Overall it was a good purchase especially considering that the price has gone up since I bought it. Since it is now permanently in office, I have been considering buying the Zen DAC Signature for home use!

I am using this equipment to power my Hifiman Sundara, and it is working as expected. I have tried both the balanced as well as the unbalanced output from this DAC and they both work as expected.

The truebass feature is very subtle, and more prominent when using the balanced output. I really liked it, the bass doesn't get overpowering at all, but gets deeper and lingers a bit more than the normal output.

Not one of the affordable DAC, costing at around 17k, but does it's job very well.

One must pair it with ifi Zen Can, to get the best experience, as I would be doing, once I get my next month's salary.

The pairing of the Zen DAC + Zen Can + Sundara is highly recommended and should serve good to people who likes more of the neutral tone in their music.

I currently have Sennheiser HD598 driven by my MAC directly. I bought this DAC in anticipation of buying a better headphone.

What surprised me was the sound improved even for existing headphones. The sound clarity is better at higher volumes.

Will update the review after trying the DAC with new headphones.

Out of the box it sounds awesome
True bass reduce details a little bit but not much can be useful woth open back headphones.
There are some issue which are not significant
1 led indicator,it can be confusing it is green for PCM which should not be rhe case
2 usb cable is small
3 No power button

Overall best DAC in this price you can not go wrong with it.

Well, this is my first DAC/Amp. After watching and reading several reviews from various reviewers and consumers, I decided to buy iFi zen dac v2. I have to admit that the order placing and delivery process was smooth, thanks to Headphone Zone. The product sounds just fantastic. As I said earlier, I did not use any external DAC/Amp before, I did not know how much it could improve the listening experience. I am amazed to know music can be this beautiful and that my ATH-M50x can sound this good. Moreover, the Truebass button is absolute bliss.
