The Pontus 15TH features a genuine balanced R-2R ladder network array design, with each channel equipped with an independent high-speed CPLD. Utilising four sets of 0.005% R-2R networks, it ensures exceptionally low distortion and background noise, making every note resonate vividly. All digital inputs are FIFO buffered and reclocked by the on-board LPNO crystal oscillators, ensuring minimal reliance on the source equipment's clock quality and providing exceptional jitter suppression.

The innovative box-in-box design isolates the DAC motherboard from the linear power supply unit, preventing external interference and enhancing audio purity and stability. The dedicated linear power supply unit, encased in a 1.5mm thick metal alloy enclosure, features beefy dual O-Core transformers for digital and analog sections, ultra-low ESR capacitors, and a multi-stage super linear power supply, ensuring precise and low-ripple power supply.

Frankly, I have been reading about DAC magic a lot without giving in. Recently, I bought Denafrips Aries II 12th edition just out of curiosity and tried it with my reasonably good hifi set up. I was shocked to realise what I have been missing so long. The DAC brought life into my music. Then my curiosity overtook my prudence and I adventured into Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1. Oh My God! This DAC just blew me away with its refinement over Aries II 12th. Music was like re-born. So much space, meat on the bones. Like singers sitting in your room and orchestral instruments arranged around you. It is so life like. Stunning and simply superb! Yet to get the full juice out of it since it is still burning in....

This is my second DAC. I’ll not reveal the one I already have, but it’s a good DAC boasting almost perfect measurements. I bought the Pontus after having gone through many positive reviews about it. I received the product well in time-as promised by HFzone and it was very well packed. I’m middle aged, so somewhat old school. Quality and attention to detail is of great importance to me. I must say this thing is bulletproof. Solid aluminium chassis. Each component sits precise, touch and feel are top class. Sound quality, well there’s better prose out there describing it, so I’ll just say that the Pontus lays music on a dark velvet landscape. Vocals move closer to you and instruments give each other space to breathe. Not that my previous DAC is a slouch in any manner. It has a tighter bass than the Pontus, but the extra decay in bass gives Pontus more musicality. More furry warmth. Special thanks to Headphone Zone for sharing a variety of audiophile playlists and arranging the product in the promised timeframe.

I was very curious about the new trend of R2R DACs and heard a lot about Denafrips. I replaced my Marantz SACD 30N DAC with Denafrips -Pontus II - 12th Anniversary DAC and I couldn't believe my ears as if a miracle happened . It was a sound from a different world. Very musical , analog sounding , smooth yet detailed sound. The soundstage expanded unbelievably in all directions .. it is a 3 dimensional soundfield. The vocals sounded so natural .. to die for. No trace of harshness , distortion or digital glare ..The bass is punchy , very deep and nuanced , layered and textured . The instrument separation is fabulous and I could hear details never heard before . The treble is great without being aggressive. There is just no comparison with all the chip based DACs. This is an end-game DAC for me. It simply breathed a new life into my Hegel H390 amp and Dynaudio Contour 30 combination . Just go for this DAC .. you will never regret . Thanks HPZ for a prompt delivery . Vinshine from Singapore also provides good support for the product. 7 (******* ) stars.. I can only imagine how the top end DAC Terminator II plus from Denafrips would sound.

Firstly, full marks to HPZ for prompt delivery. Ordered on Thursday night and got it on Saturday 1:30PM!!! Wow!
As for the DAC, I upgraded from the Ares2. It takes all the attributes of the Ares and bumps it up by a huge margin. Bigger soundstage, depth, everything. Sounds fuller and more rounded. Bass and mids are sublime.
