The Audeze Maxwell is a fantastic-sounding detailed gaming headset that has a wide soundstage, accurate imaging, and long battery life. Clear, detailed and decently-balanced, Wide and immersive soundstage.
The Maxwell has fantastic drivers, excellent battery life, and impressive wireless range. But it’s also got some issues. It’s also surprisingly comfortable, and its 80+ hour battery life.

What is Audeze Maxwell like on the whole?
The Audeze Maxwell is a gaming headphone designed to be a perfect match for someone looking to elevate their gaming experience.
Will the Xbox Audeze Maxwell work with PlayStation (or vice versa)?
Either version is universally compatible using the 3.5mm connection. In low-latency wireless mode or via USB, due to differing hardware, firmware, and licensing requirements, the PlayStation version will not work on Xbox. Xbox version on PlayStation via the USB dongle is not officially supported and may not work. Using the Xbox version on PS via wired USB, there may be some limitations in volume control and other possible loss of functionality. We recommend use of the properly supported version for each console.
What improvements does Audeze Maxwell have over Audeze Penrose?
Maxwell offers several significant advancements over Penrose. Maxwell has an improved chassis using premium materials for improved durability, a greatly extended battery life (greater than 80 hours from our testing), utilizes the new Bluetooth 5.3 protocol for better wireless range and stability, and allows for hi-res audio playback through its USB mode.
As a PC only user, which would be the best version, Xbox or PlayStation Audeze Maxwell?
Both the Xbox version as well as the PlayStation version will function identically for PC use. In this case, you can save a bit of money by choosing the PlayStation version. The Xbox version includes a Dolby Atmos license to use specifically with the headset. Note: Existing Dolby Atmos licenses purchased separately through the Microsoft app store, will work with both versions of Maxwell.
Why are the drivers 90mm instead of 100mm like the Audeze Mobius/Penrose?
The active area is still same. The new dual chamber earcup design takes up some of the space by having two physical earcups, one internal and one external - this helps with noise isolation and acoustics.
What are the inner ear dimensions for the ear pads on Maxwell?
Maxwell has an ear opening on the pads that are:65mm tall x 50mm wide x 30mm deep (back side) and 20mm deep (front side).
Note: that there may be some slight tolerance differences on a per-pad basis.

I got my MAXWELL today, which a friend of mine brought for me from Germany finally, as they were in high demand n I failed to get them from elsewhere…
Earlier I bought LCD i3 from headphone zone itself and they are my all time favorite planar magnets, which made Audeze brand as my favorite Music contributory, undisputedly!
Now, these 90mm cans playing on 5.3 BT are transmitting a SONIC BLISS into the ears and the way they are sounding, makes me revisit n re-listen to my entire Apple catalogue, to feel that eternity of Blissful Audio!
These cans are a bit heavier, but they never make you fatigued neither bcoz of their heftiness nor (as many reviewers mentioned) bcoz of the ear pads….
Forget how u look in the mirrors wearing them, you will just be immersed in their soundstage….

This is a great one-and-done set for all use cases. It has great sound quality and perfect tuning for my preferences. But the main highlight of this set is its versatility. The USB dongle on the Xbox version can be used on mobile (with usb-c port), PC, XBOX and PS5. To top it of, you have for Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC and LE codec support other than the normal SBC and AAC codecs.
Tip :
1. Please get the XBOX version even if you do not have XBOX. The dolby license is a deal for extra 3K.
2. XBOX version works with PS5. PS version doesn't work on XBOX wirelessly.
I bought these primarily for gaming and oh boi do they exceed their purpose. These headphones have a really good soundstage and i mean damn good. Really having a blast with these and i would recommend these to every gamer i know.

After using the Corsair Void headset for quite some time, I recently upgraded to the Audeze Maxwell, and the difference is night and day. The Corsair Void was great for gaming; its comfort was impeccable, and the sound quality was decent. However, stepping up to the Maxwell, I’m experiencing sound on a completely new level.
Sound Quality: While the Void delivered a solid gaming experience, the sound felt somewhat processed—especially with vocals. Everything blended together, which was fine for casual gaming, but I knew there was something more to be desired. With the Audeze Maxwell, the audio clarity is incredible. I can literally pick out every layer of vocals, drums, bass, and instruments, which is something the Void struggled with. It’s as if I’m hearing tracks for the first time, and the depth in sound has made gaming and music incredibly immersive.
Comfort & Build: The Void always impressed me with its comfort, and it served me well in long gaming sessions. But the Maxwell takes it a step further. The plush ear cups and balanced clamping force make wearing them for hours feel effortless. I have yet to experience any discomfort or fatigue, even during marathon gaming sessions.
Battery Life: One of the most jaw-dropping features of the Maxwell is the battery life. I’ve been using the headset since it was delivered on September 14th, and it still has over 20% battery left! The Void, being wired, never had this issue, but the convenience of such long-lasting battery life is a game-changer.
Gaming Performance: In terms of gaming, the Void was solid—clear sound, no major latency issues—but the Maxwell elevates the experience. Positional audio in FPS games is more accurate, and every detail feels more pronounced, making gameplay more engaging.
Overall: I waited almost a year for the Audeze Maxwell, and good lord, it was worth every bit of that wait. The upgrade from the Corsair Void is undeniable. If you’re looking for a headset that offers unmatched audio quality, long battery life, and premium comfort, the Maxwell is a stellar choice. I’m loving every minute with it.
