I think it has a very good value and it’s in my opinion one of the best headphones you can get at this time. If you ever look out for a life-like, vibrant, musical, resolving and dynamic headphone, I strongly recommend it.

Though I expect the best from Meze, I’m nonetheless blown away with what they accomplished with the 109 PRO. Meze continues to set their own quality standards by focusing on overall balance and tasteful brightness
The new Meze 109 Pro open-back headphones are a triumph, in every respect. The sound quality is pitch-perfect. The openness of the soundstage and the sheer level of detail is astonishing.
The stock sound signature on the low end is very linear sounding and a bit lean on mobile sources. However, this feels like one of the smoothest dynamic driver bass experiences I’ve heard in years.
The 50mm dynamic drivers are angled rather than mounted flat, parallel with the housing, so the sound reaches your ears more naturally.

After a lot of research on the internet regarding the best headphones I could buy under 1000 USD, I came to the consensus that the unanimous judgement of all the YouTubers, forum, and Reddit audiophiles was, go for the Meze 109 Pro. One of the main driving factors towards this decision was the fact that I could easily drive these headphones off the inbuilt DAC on my MacBook Pro ( a more dedicated DAC+AMP is better of course, but the ease of not carrying an additional hardware item is always a plus). And when these were on a discounted price during the Black Friday sale, it was a no-brainer for me.
I'll divide this review into a couple of headings:
Ease of ordering and Delivery: It was honestly a breeze. The entire experience was top-notch.
Design and Build Quality: I was impressed right out of the box with its premium aesthetics. The combination of wood, manganese, and leather exudes elegance. One of the best headphones I have held. What was surprising was the weight, as soon as I held it I realized these could be worn for hours without any strain or fatigue. Another shoutout to the fir and the fit system, it’s simply put amazing, comfortable, and easy to put on. I love the thought and effort put into design. It’s a product of love and not designed as industrial equipment. The memory foam ear pads and suspension headband distribute weight evenly, reducing fatigue.
Sound Quality: This is where it truly shines. An added advantage is that it is one of the easiest headphones in this category to drive.
Bass: Tight, controlled, and punchy without overwhelming. Billy Jean by MJ & Papercut by Linkin Park really shine here.
Midrange: Clear and well-articulated and well-rounded
Treble: Sparkling yet smooth, some high-end songs are a bit on the brighter side. For example, “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele, “Run” by Leona Lewis & “Chandelier” by SIA .
Soundstage: It’s spacious and immersive soundstage.
I only have a few cons (extreme nitpicking): The cable ends are on the skinny side, so you have to find the right replacement cable. Another con is that they could have included a balanced cable at this price point.

The tonality of the notes is simply stunning..these are an absolute delight to listen to. Bass is neat and punchy..the vocals and mids so clear and forward..the trebles are delightfully crisp!! The 109 Pros meet each and every expectation one would have after reading myriad excellent reviews.

The sound, well, to say in a word is phenomenal. The highs and mids are brilliantly presented and the lows are planted beautifully; you really do get aesthete quality both in presentation and sound.

I have ordered a lot from HPZ over the last 2-3 years. However, this is my first review on this website. This is because I feel that there are some misleading reviews circulating in the community for these wonderful headphones. If you watch various YouTube videos for 109 pro, many people are likely to get confused about its sound signature. Most reviews catagorize it as a bright headphone while some classify it as warm sounding. Now I am extremely sensitive to high treble and as a result don't appreciate sound coming from DT990, HE400i and even HD560s. I consider all these to be quite fatiguing to my ears. As a result, I took a big risk ordering this headphone since many reviewers found it to be too bright sounding. However, when I got them I was pleasantly surprised to find them extremely warm and fatgue free listen for long listening hours. The extra brightness that these headphones have in over 10k frequency can be easily fixed by Dekoni foam attenuation kit and it's just a one time install. There is no loss in sound quality due to this MOD and the exposed drivers also get a layer of protection from dust. Post this, they have now become my most favoured headphones.Yes, they are not as detailed as Focal Clear but their sound is extremely relaxing and pleasing. As a result, I personally rank them higher than HD650, Sundara and EditionXS and just behind Focal Clear.
Now I realise that everyone's ears and music tastes are different. However, the trick to test a good headphone is to listen them for at least a couple of hours or more at a stretch. If you don't feel uncomfortable after this listening session, then the headphones can definately be categorised as an easy listen. And Meze 109 Pro definately falls in that category for me.
I hope this review is helpful to other potential buyers and lastly I would like to thank HPZ for running this wonderful website for all of us music lovers in India and also running great discounts from time to time. :-)
PS: I would request HPZ to have their original earpads for sale as well since I feel 3-4 years down the line these might need a replacement.
